Interesting story on bitcoin that I want to comment on later.
Edit: As usual, The Economist captured my thoughts precisely – Bitcoin feels like the new Napster. Slightly illegal and not quite fully polished, but poised to leverage technology to launch a revolution.
Just as the Internet made the international sharing of information a million times easier, an online currency unrelated to any government or business, has the potential to make the international sharing of physical goods a million times easier. Whereas a typical transaction might involve two currencies and the banks, forex, payment companies and currency controls associated with them, Bitcoin involves a single currency and a seamless means of exchanging payment.
